The district of Los Serranos lies north west of Valencia and can be easily accesses by the CV-35 Highway which runs directly through the region to Valencia.
The land varies greatly from the high peaks (La Ceja de Alpuente at 1600m) to the low agricultural lands full of orange groves, vineyards, olive & almond plantations.
The are 18 towns and over 20 villages in the district, all with their different looks and patron saints- fiestas all year!
Hiking & walking trails are dotted thoughout the various ranges- the Javalambre Sierra to the north, the Sierra de Andilla to the east and the Negrete Mountains and Sierra
de Chiva to the south. You will also find numerous cycling and mountain biking trails, canoeing and watersports (Benageber Dam), climbing schools (Chulilla) and many camping/picnic areas.
Wildlife abounds in this region - Eagles, Peregrines, Wild Boar, Foxes, Hares.... Oh, don’t forget the Lizards and numerous migrating birds.
For history and architecture, there are many Castles
around the region, as well as the fantastic Chapels, medieval mills and museums available to visit.
Of particular note are the Roman Aqueduct of Los Arcos, the ‘Rincón del Tio Escribano’ (Cave paintings, Titaguas), |
